Welcome! My name is Gladys Zubiría; I am a postdoctoral researcher at Universidad de Los Andes on the Micro-Foundations of Peace Project. I hold a Ph.D. and a master's degree in Political Science from Rice University, as well as a master's degree in Conflict Resolution from the University of Essex. I am originally from Barranquilla, Colombia, and a Fulbright scholar.
My research focuses on peace and conflict studies, specifically examining the determinants of peace sustainability, people's perceptions of peace processes, and the role of women in these processes. I examine the impact of women's involvement in negotiations in contexts of civil war and the empowerment of women in post-conflict settings, utilizing cross-national data and survey experiments. I have co-authored studies on the use of violence in the Colombian Armed Conflict and the perceptions of ex-combatants regarding reintegration processes after the peace agreement with the FARC.
I am passionate about teaching. I have worked as an instructor at Universidad del Norte in Colombia, where I taught courses in negotiation and conflict resolution. At Rice, I worked as a teaching assistant for Introduction to International Relations and taught an undergraduate course on Civil Wars.
